The Air Conditioning Maintenance Manual states that it is best to clean the air conditioner 2-3 times a year. It is usually reasonable to clean the air conditioner once before turning it on, once during the middle period of turning it on, and once when it is turned off. Sometimes when the air conditioner is turned off, after a major cleaning process such as maintenance, upkeep, and cleaning, the air conditioner is covered with a hood and left relatively clean when turned on the following year. The filter screen is also clean. At this time, the cleaning before turning on the air conditioner is waived, and it is cleaned twice a year, which is very effective, saves labor and costs, reduces operating costs, and does not affect the cooling effect. So the maintenance time for air conditioning is usually in April and October every year.
The key to air conditioning maintenance: air conditioning cleaning
The cleaning of air conditioning units should include three parts. The first is the housing and exposed parts of the air conditioning unit, which are easily contaminated; The second is filter cleaning, which is a common place for households to clean; The third part is the condenser and evaporator, which are the core components of air conditioning cleaning.
1. Cleaning of the housing and corresponding components of the air conditioning unit
2. Cleaning of filter screen
The common cleaning place for household air conditioners is the filter screen.
Open the indoor cabinet and observe whether there is dust and odor on the filter screen of the indoor unit. If there is a lot of dust or a serious odor, the filter screen should be cleaned. When cleaning the filter, first cut off the power, then open the panel and remove the filter. Use a brush style vacuum cleaner to remove dust from the filter screen, and then rinse it with clean water. When it is too dirty with oil stains, it can be cleaned with a cleaning agent or neutral soapy water, rinsed with water and dried before installation. It should be noted that do not use hot water above 40 ℃ for cleaning. Do not use laundry detergent, dishwashing liquid, gasoline, banana oil, etc. to clean, in order to avoid deformation of the filter screen. In addition, after rinsing with clean water, dry with a soft cloth or blow dry in a cool place. Do not expose to direct sunlight or dry in open flames such as stoves to prevent deformation of the filter screen.
After installing the filter, plug in the power and wait for 3-5 minutes. Set the remote control to cooling mode and set the temperature to the lowest condition before turning it on and running. After testing the hidden dangers of the air conditioner, set the wind speed switch of the remote control to different gears and observe whether there is any abnormal noise in the internal unit. Start up and run for about 15 minutes to observe whether the external fan is running normally and whether there is any abnormal noise from the external unit. After running for about 30 minutes, observe whether there is a cold air feeling in the indoor unit’s air outlet, whether there is condensed water flowing out of the outdoor unit’s water outlet pipe, and whether the water flow is smooth.
3. Cleaning of condenser and evaporator parts
The condenser and evaporator are the core parts of air conditioning cleaning. Air conditioning mainly achieves cooling effect through the operation of the condenser and evaporator parts. However, if the condenser and evaporator of a typical air conditioner are not cleaned for two years, a temporary accumulation of about 2mm thick dust will accumulate on them, seriously affecting the cooling effect of the air conditioner, prolonging the cooling time, increasing power consumption, and shortening the service life.
Cleaning the condenser and evaporator parts generally requires professionals to clean them, as the aluminum fins of the condenser and evaporator parts are only 0.2mm and are easily damaged. And professional air conditioning cleaning agents and tools should also be used for cleaning. There are mixed brands of cleaning agents on the market now. It is recommended to choose old brands of cleaning agents to ensure that the air conditioner is not damaged.
