Pressure sensors are the most commonly used sensors in industrial practice, widely used in various industrial automation environments, involving water conservancy and hydropower, railway transportation, intelligent buildings, production automation, aerospace, military industry, petrochemicals, oil wells, power, ships, machine tools, pipelines and many other industries. Below are some pressure measurements that can be divided into several categories!
Regarding the measurement of pressure, it can be divided into three categories:
(1) Measurement of absolute pressure
(2) Measurement of gauge pressure
(3) Measurement of differential pressure
Absolute pressure refers to the pressure measured corresponding to absolute vacuum.
Gauge pressure refers to the pressure measured corresponding to regional atmospheric pressure.
Differential pressure refers to the pressure difference between two pressure sources.
If there is an absolute vacuum pressure, then the differential pressure is equal to the absolute pressure; If the pressure is regional atmospheric pressure, then the differential pressure is equal to the “gauge pressure”.
The unit of measurement for pressure is pascal (abbreviated as pa), which is equivalent to Newton per square meter. In industrial applications, there are other different units of pressure; Such as Bar, psi (pounds per square inch), atmospheric pressure, mmHg (height of mercury column in mm), and cmH2O (height of water column in cm).
For the measurement of liquid and gas pressure, various pressure sensors can be used. The so-called ‘sensor’ refers to an energy conversion device that absorbs energy from one system and transfers it in different forms (such as electrical) to another system. So, some people also refer to it as a “converter”, just as pressure measurement can be divided into three categories, pressure converters can also be distinguished by these three categories:
Absolute pressure sensor: This device includes a reference vacuum for measuring the absolute pressure of the environment or receiving a pressure source.
Differential pressure sensor: measures the pressure difference between two connected pressure sources.
